Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Daycare Teacher to join our team under the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE). The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children of various ages, including infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. This role involves implementing developmentally appropriate activities, managing classroom routines, and fostering positive social and emotional growth. The position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on children's early learning experiences while working in a collaborative and supportive setting.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans aligned with early childhood education standards Supervise and engage children during play, learning activities, meals, and rest periods Ensure the safety and well-being of all children in your care at all times Maintain a clean, organized, and stimulating classroom environment conducive to learning and development Communicate effectively with parents regarding children's progress, behavior, and needs Support children with special needs or disabilities by adapting activities and providing individualized care as needed Administer basic first aid when necessary and respond promptly to any emergencies or behavioral issues Collaborate with colleagues to plan activities that promote social skills, cognitive development, and emotional regulation Follow all licensing regulations and policies related to childcare services under VDOE guidelines

Qualifications

Prior experience working with children in daycare, preschool, or similar settings is preferred Knowledge of childhood development principles and best practices in early childhood education Experience with classroom management and behavior management techniques Certification in first aid and CPR is highly desirable; willingness to obtain certification if not already certified Background in special education or working with children with disabilities is a plus Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with children, parents, and team members Passion for caregiving, nurturing young learners, and fostering a positive learning environment Ability to pass background checks in accordance with licensing requirements
