Database Analyst

Work Schedule:

Full-Time. Core hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00-4:30 p.m.

Salary Range:

$55,000-60,000/year. Position is currently in-person, with remote work possible on Fridays after 90 days of employment.

Purpose of Position:

To collect, clean, and analyze data on fundraising, donor engagement, and program outcomes to support strategic decision-making, improve operational efficiency, assess organizational impact and improve the organization's data fluency. Key responsibilities include creating dashboards and reports, identifying trends in data, ensuring data integrity, collaborating with internal teams, presenting actionable insights to leadership and building data literacy through training and support to staff.

Essential Functions:



Data Collection & Management:

Gather data from various sources, clean it for accuracy, and maintain databases.

Data Analysis:

Use statistical techniques to analyze donor data, fundraising efforts, program performance, and operational metrics.

Reporting & Visualization:

Develop dashboards, reports, and presentations to communicate data-driven insights and trends to stakeholders and leadership.

Strategic Support:

Provide data-driven recommendations to improve fundraising campaigns, optimize resource allocation, and enhance program effectiveness.

Collaboration:

Work closely with fundraising, development, and program teams to understand data needs and ensure data accuracy.

Compliance & Integrity:

Ensure data integrity for reporting purposes and monitor compliance with regulations.

Staff Training & Capacity Building:

Develop and deliver employee training (data usage, best practices, data entry and collection), create user-friendly resources, promote data fluency (data-driven culture) and provide technical support.

General Database Maintenance & Oversight:



o Maintain and update donor records and ensure data accuracy, consistency, confidentiality and security.

o Database maintenance including but not limited to account merging, cleanup, scheduling and monitoring rebuilds, importing of files and other data and other trouble shooting tasks.

o Create and maintain database authorities and user accounts, including staff and non-staff users.

o Maintain data standards and best practices within the database.

o Co-lead the database staff user group to enhance the utilization of the database and relay developed solutions to finance team.

Reporting & Analysis:



o Support the collection and reporting of revenue data including interpreting data, analyzing results, providing ongoing reports and partnering with appropriate staff members to resolve any discrepancies.

o Generate regular and ad-hoc reports to support fundraising efforts, donor breakdown and board reporting.

o Analyze giving trends, donor retention and campaign performance to inform strategy.

o Update and maintain ease-of-use elements such as custom dashboards and bio tabs.

Data Integration & Optimization:



o Assist with the design and configuration of internal database to ensure efficient retrieval of information.

o Identify opportunities to improve data workflows and system efficiency.

Staff Support &Training:



o Provide database training for new employees during the onboarding process.

o Serve as a resource for staff to help extrapolate and interpret data.

o Record and catalog staff training videos and create simple, user-friendly training documents

o Identify areas of need in staff knowledge and design training intended to address those needs.

o Maintain continued availability for one-on-one staff training, trouble shooting and questions

Position Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor's degree in information systems, data analytics or related field

or

2-5 years of data analysis/data management work experience.

Technical Skills:



o Proficient in data analysis and visualization tools like Microsoft Excel, Power BI, or Tableau.

o Strong knowledge of database query languages, such as SQL.

o Experience with non-profit specific CRM's (Salesforce, Blackbaud, Andar) is preferred.

Interpersonal Skills:



o Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communications skills as well as the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences.

o Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.

o The ability to work both independently and collaboratively with diverse teams.

o Ability to prioritize tasks and focus on multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

Travel



Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
