Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled
Data Center Technician/Engineer
with strong expertise in
servers, hardware installation, troubleshooting, and data center infrastructure
. The ideal candidate will support mission-critical environments, ensuring maximum uptime, operational excellence, and adherence to industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Server & Hardware Operations
Install, rack, stack, cable, and label
servers, storage systems, and network devices
.
Perform
BIOS updates, firmware upgrades, server imaging
, and OS loading.
Execute server hardware diagnostics, part replacements (CPU, RAM, HDD/SSD, NIC, RAID controllers), and perform RMA processing with vendors.
Build and configure
bare-metal servers
following engineering standards.
Troubleshoot hardware failures and escalate with vendors to ensure quick resolution.
Data Center Floor Operations
Manage data center workflow including
ticketing, incident response, task scheduling, and asset tracking
.
Maintain structured cabling for
fiber, copper, DAC, and AOC cables
.
Perform power measurements, power audits, and ensure proper
PDU/UPS usage
.
Conduct regular data hall inspections ensuring cooling, power, and environmental systems are stable.
Infrastructure & Systems Support
Support
server refreshes
, deployments, migrations, and decommissions.
Assist with infrastructure expansion projects: racks, cabinets, containment systems.
Work with internal engineering teams to support
compute, storage, virtualization, and cloud environments
.
Manage documentation for procedures, diagrams, inventory, and preventive maintenance.
Required Skills & Qualifications
2 years
hands-on experience in a
data center or server operations
environment (depending on role level).
Strong knowledge of
server hardware architecture
(Dell, HP, Lenovo, Supermicro, ZT Systems, Cisco UCS, or equivalent).
Experience with
racking, stacking, cabling, and troubleshooting servers
.
Strong understanding of
network fundamentals
(TCP/IP, VLANs, subnets).
Experience with fiber/copper termination, cable management, and structured cabling.
Ability to perform physical tasks: lifting 50-75 lbs., bending, climbing ladders.
Familiarity with
ticketing systems
(ServiceNow, Jira, Remedy) and DCIM tools.
Excellent documentation, communication, and customer service skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-availability environment.
