Overview


We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Assistant Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, including GAAP, and be proficient in various accounting software. This role will support the financial operations of our organization, ensuring accuracy and compliance in all financial reporting and transactions.

Responsibilities



Assist in the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements. Perform account reconciliations and ensure accuracy in general ledger accounting. Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoicing and payment processing. Conduct financial analysis to support budgeting and forecasting activities. Prepare journal entries and maintain accurate records of all financial transactions. Support regulatory reporting requirements and ensure compliance with relevant laws, including SOX and securities law. Collaborate with team members on auditing processes and assist in the preparation of audit documentation. Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Quicken, Sage, or Xero for various accounting tasks. Provide mentorship to junior staff members as needed. Engage in cash flow analysis and bank reconciliation activities.

Qualifications



Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred; relevant experience may be considered. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for financial report writing and data analysis. Knowledge of financial concepts including double entry bookkeeping, accrual accounting, and financial management. Experience with public accounting or corporate finance is a plus; familiarity with non-profit accounting is advantageous. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial reports effectively. Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy in all tasks performed. Familiarity with governmental accounting practices is beneficial. Understanding of wills, trusts & estate law is a plus for candidates interested in specialized areas of accounting. Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated. Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $26.83 - $27.49 per hour
