Reports To: Shift Leader / Assistant Manager / General Manager

Position Summary:

The Grill Staff / Cook is responsible for executing kitchen operations to ensure high-quality food preparation and guest satisfaction. This includes cooking, assembling, and preparing food items according to Dairy Queen standards while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment. The ideal candidate is fast, efficient, detail-oriented, and maintains a positive, team-focused attitude.

Key Responsibilities:

Food Preparation & Cooking:

Prepare and cook food items quickly and accurately following all health, safety, and restaurant standards. Operate and maintain cooking equipment, including grill, fryer, freezer, and related appliances, in a safe and efficient manner. Assemble, wrap, and stock food items as needed, ensuring proper portioning and quality.

Kitchen Operations:

Maintain cleanliness and organization of the grill and kitchen areas. Perform routine cleaning duties, including breakdown and sanitation of the grill station, sweeping, mopping, and trash removal. Ensure proper food storage and rotation to maintain freshness and compliance with food safety guidelines. Complete assigned prep work and ensure all stations are fully stocked for peak operational times.

Teamwork & Communication:

Communicate clearly and respectfully with team members to ensure correct orders and smooth operations. Work collaboratively as part of a team to uphold standards of quality, service, cleanliness, and value.

Customer Experience:

Remain alert, friendly, and responsive to customer needs when working in view of guests. Support the frontofhouse team as needed to ensure fast and accurate order fulfillment.

Other Duties:

Promptly report any equipment issues, food safety concerns, or unusual occurrences to management. Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by management or shift leaders.

Maintain the highest standards of food quality, cleanliness, and guest satisfaction. Adhere strictly to all safety and sanitation guidelines, including handling of raw and cooked food. Contribute to the overall success of the restaurant through consistency, reliability, and teamwork.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Required:

Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a highvolume, fastpaced environment. Ability to follow established food safety and handling procedures. Must be punctual, reliable, and maintain a professional appearance and attitude. Ability to stand for long periods and perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs. Must be able to work in various temperature conditions (e.g., grill area, freezer, outdoor trash areas).

Preferred:

Previous food service or quickservice restaurant (QSR) experience is a plus but not required.
####

Physical & Environmental Requirements:

Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, and standing throughout the shift. Ability to safely handle raw, frozen, and cooked food items. Must be able to read order screens, recall food components, and communicate effectively with team members.
