JOB SUMMARY

This is an entry job or temporary position for new hires joining the company. Workers in the labor pool are assigned to operating and service departments to assist with extra workload, cover absences and vacations, and supplement crews required to meet unusual changes in the elements--heat, cold, severe weather, etc.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (and other duties as assigned)

Assist Community Winter Access Trail Equipment Operators with maintaining vehicle, supplies, and perform minor repairs. Notifies management concerning need for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating, or equipment, such as vehicle fluid levels. Load and secure cargo; inventory supplies and equipment. Cleans snow and debris from trail. Performs physical labor to assist with the success of the Community Winter Access Trail project.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Strong knowledge, understanding and sensitivity to the Inupiat culture. High school or equivalent certification. Physical fitness to perform maintenance and heavy lifting assignments up to 70 pounds. An equivalent combination of training and experience to perform light building maintenance. Must be able to work independently and must be willing to work shifts that vary from day to night and operate seven days a week. Valid Alaska driver license is preferred. The ability to speak and understand the Inupiaq language is important and preferred.
