Duties
Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment and maintaining a sterile environment using aseptic techniques.
Perform animal restraint and handling with confidence, ensuring safety for both animals and staff during examinations and treatments.
Conduct laboratory tests such as blood work, urinalysis, and other diagnostics to support accurate diagnoses.
Manage pet care routines including grooming, feeding, administering medications, and monitoring recovery post-procedure.
Handle radiographic procedures (X-ray) with precision, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed.
Support dental procedures by understanding dental terminology and assisting with cleaning, polishing, and extractions as needed.
Maintain detailed medical records, update patient files with treatment notes, and communicate effectively with pet owners about care plans.
Assist with animal husbandry tasks such as feeding, cleaning enclosures, and monitoring animal physiology to ensure optimal health conditions.
Contribute to the clinic's team by participating in training on dog training techniques, pet grooming practices, and animal catheterization procedures.
Skills
Proven kennel experience coupled with strong animal handling skills for dogs, cats, and other small animals.
Solid understanding of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and critical care practices.
Experience working with laboratory equipment and performing diagnostic tests accurately.
Knowledge of veterinary technician responsibilities including aseptic techniques and pet care protocols.
Ability to handle diverse animals safely using restraint techniques suitable for different species.
Familiarity with radiography (X-ray) procedures and safety measures for both animals and staff.
Competence in performing animal catheterization and administering treatments via various routes.
Excellent communication skills to explain medical procedures clearly to pet owners while demonstrating empathy and professionalism.
