About the Role




The

Data Steward

plays a critical role within our Customer Data Management team by ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and governance of customer master data. This position is ideal for individuals with strong Excel skills and an IT or finance background who thrive in a FinTech-inspired environment focused on data integrity, automation, and scalable growth. In this role, you'll help maintain data standards, support governance audits, and contribute to reporting and automation initiatives that drive data excellence across the organization.

Key Responsibilities



Maintain and validate customer master data records in alignment with established governance policies. Perform data quality checks, resolve duplicates, and ensure adherence to naming conventions. Support account-level and portfolio-level governance audits to promote consistency across ownership structures. Use advanced Excel functions (Power Query, pivot tables, conditional logic) for data analysis and cleansing. Build and maintain Excel-based tools to track data quality metrics and audit findings. Assist in designing and maintaining dashboards using Excel, Power BI, or similar tools. Support and/or initiate the automation of routine data tasks using Power Automate. Apply AI tools (e.g., Copilot, Excel AI) to improve efficiency in data stewardship tasks. Use basic SQL queries to extract, validate, and reconcile customer data from enterprise systems. Leverage help desk or technical support experience to troubleshoot data issues and collaborate with IT and business stakeholders. Maintain SharePoint documentation, including data dictionaries and process guides. Participate in onboarding and training for new systems or data processes.

Minimum Qualifications



Education & Experience



Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in business, information systems, finance, or a related field. 1-5 years of experience in IT or finance with exposure to data stewardship or governance. Advanced Excel skills required; experience with Power Query, complex formulas, and data modeling preferred. Familiarity with SharePoint, Power Automate, Power BI, and SQL Server is a plus. Help desk or technical support experience is a differentiator.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements



Ability to maintain professionalism while working with executives, clients, and staff, occasionally under pressure. Must meet company standards for background checks, reference checks, controlled substance testing, and behavioral assessments. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Work involves regular computer usage and handling of sensitive information. Regular talking, hearing, and frequent sitting. Occasional walking, reaching, stooping, kneeling, or lifting up to 10 pounds. Requires close and distance vision and ability to adjust focus. Work performed primarily in an office or hybrid environment.
