Schedule:

10:30a - 7:00p; Monday - Friday; schedule varies depending on program needs

Purpose:

The Custodian/Facilities Specialist/Driver provides daily cleaning and maintenance of assigned site/sites and grounds, and to perform tasks as directed by the Childcare Director or Center Director.

Responsibilities:

Daily Tasks

Clean, dust, and wipe furniture; Empty all waste baskets Sweep, mop and disinfect floors; Vacuum Rugs Clean and disinfect toilets, urinals, sinks and mirrors using established practices and procedure Check hand soap, paper towels and tissue dispensers Replace light bulbs Clean baseboards, air vent, light fixtures Strip, clean, buff and apply floor sealer and floor finish to hard surfaces floors, vacuum, and shampoo carpets pressure washers, high-speed buffers and vacuums, brooms, mops, and squeegees for the cleaning and general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, furniture, etc. Spot wash walls May shovel and remove snow and ice from designated areas such as sidewalks, entryways, and grounds work (ie: Grass) Monitor and report needs for building or equipment repairs

Driving Responsibilities

During school year pick up youth from various community schools and deliver to Center. Work with Program Manager to create a transportation schedule Along with Program Manager establish relationship with school personnel Manage the cleanliness of vans weekly Monitor the vans for routine and emergency maintenance and repairs This position requires 15-20% of your time to be dedicated to driving between the hours of 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM for pick up and drop off of children, using the agency's van. Flexibility is key, as driving hours may vary based on operational needs.

High School Diploma or GED is required At least 1-2 years of related experience in cleaning and maintenance Valid drivers license in Illinois Must pass DMV and criminal background check Ability to climb ladders Ability to travel between various CYC sites Skill in using cleaning products and equipment Take classes as required in cleaning methods and techniques, new products Helpful Basic computer skills Bilingual language ability is a plus (Spanish-speaking) Knowledge of health, fire and safety codes
