Description of Work Unit


Facility and Custodial Services


The Facility and Custodial Services Department at the CSU Health Network is responsible for maintaining a sanitary facility to facilitate delivery of care. The department is responsible for daily terminal cleaning, spill cleanup, waste management, and grounds assistance, in addition to special projects that arise on an annual basis. Exterior facility management may include snow removal on sidewalks, minor bush trimming, window washing, and patio maintenance. This department provides ample opportunity for student workers. The Facility and Custodial Services Department is open between the hours of 7:30 a.m. - 11:00 p.m. Monday-Friday.

Position Summary


The Custodian position is critical in providing a clean and sanitary environment by performing housekeeping, cleaning, laundry, floor maintenance, minor repairs and painting, and waste collection services in all areas of the CSU Health Network.


This is a part-time, evening position, with a typical work schedule of 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a total of 20 or 30 work hours per week. These hours may vary slightly between the hours of 4:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., depending on mutual individual and business needs.



This position reports directly to the Facility and Custodial Services Manager.


Required Job Qualifications


High School Diploma or GED Cleaning experience in a commercial environment



Preferred Job Qualifications


Experience providing custodial services in a medical environment Operating knowledge of and experience with custodial equipment including vacuum cleaners, shampoo machines, wet/dry vacuums, floor scrubbing and/or polishing machines, buffing and/or other related cleaning operations Knowledge of cleaning methods and cleaning products Integrity Reliable with strong work ethic Attention to detail Ability to work independently and take initiative to perform work responsibilities successfully with minimal supervision Ability to verbally communicate effectively with organization staff, students, and visitors Ability to follow verbal and written instructions Ability to maintain employer and staff confidentiality
