Job Description




Compensation Range: $19/hr - $21/hr commensurate with experience

Overview:




The Floater Custodian is responsible for cleaning and maintaining residential buildings and their grounds. The Floater Custodian is also responsible for performing maintenance and repair work in accordance with work orders, projects, and apartment turnovers. This position will support facilities and maintenance operations at different properties, as needed. Weekly work schedules will be provided with a minimum of one week's notice; however, twice each month, if it is necessary, 72-hour notice to fill a shift will be required.

Responsibilities:




Primary:


Adhere to the custodial and preventative maintenance plan to ensure that the facility's common spaces - pantry area, bathrooms, offices, residential spaces - are clean, sanitary, and properly stocked with supplies.

Secondary:

Participate in monthly inspections to ensure compliance with requirements, cleanliness, and proper upkeep of the facility. Assist in the apartment/room turnover process by cleaning out and preparing apartments for new residents. Perform necessary painting, repairs, and installations as part of the turnover process. Emptying trash bins, shredders and recycling bins throughout the day and sanitize containers weekly. Properly clean rugs, carpets, and floors daily. Buffing and polishing floors monthly and cleaning carpets monthly. Dusting and vacuuming all offices and common spaces, and polishing applicable metal work, as needed. Move and assemble office furniture when necessary. Perform other responsibilities and duties as assigned. Enthusiastically take part in advocacy and direct actions to end the twin crises of homelessness and HIV/AIDS

Job Requirements




A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Experience working with cleaning supplies, tools & power tools, and some familiarity with building materials. Ability to prioritize and multi-task. Experience with and proven commitment to working with low-income and marginalized communities, as well as individuals with multiple chronic medical and/or behavioral health conditions. Dependable and flexible Able to maintain a high level of client confidentiality. Excellent internal and external customer service skills and strong interpersonal skills. Good communication skills both verbally and written, including the ability to communicate with all levels of management. Must be proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel. Ability to work under pressure. Ability to work with colleagues to solve problems.
