Job Description


Are you a diligent and capable individual with a passion for maintaining clean environments, and eager to contribute to a facility that makes a difference in the community? The Utah State Hospital is seeking a capable, diligent employees to work as an entry-level Custodian.
Custodians at the Utah State Hospital are responsible for routine cleaning and maintenance of our beautiful facility.
This position is full-time, (Monday-Friday) and includes a full State

The Minimum Qualifications:

  • Familiar with basic housekeeping practices, techniques, and procedures.
  • Physically able to meet the demands of the position, which includes, but is not limited to repetitive and continuous walking, standing, crouching, lifting, bending, stooping, pushing and pulling.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Comfortable using cleaning chemicals, tools and equipment.

  • Able to closely follow written or oral instruction and willingly accept training and feedback.
  • Diligent, reliable and trustworthy.
  • Detail oriented when completing assigned cleaning duties.
  • Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Principal Duties
  • Sorts soiled linens, washing, drying, folding, and re-stocking clean linens on a daily basis.
  • Cleans and maintains floors, dusts, waxes, and polishes furniture, washes windows, mirrors, and other glass or plastic items, empties trash and garbage, etc.
  • Maintains building(s) and/or facilities in a clean and orderly condition and/or removes snow from sidewalks and doorways, etc.
  • Cleans, sterilizes, and or disinfects areas and/or equipment.
  • Sets up and arranges tables and chairs.

  • Work requires physical exertion. May require the ability to stand; walk over rough surfaces; bend, crouch, stoop, stretch, reach, lift moderately heavy items (up to 50 lbs.) in a recurring manner and/or for long periods of time.
