This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Custodian will ensure that all areas of the facilities and grounds are clean and ready for members, visitors and staff to use. The Custodian will sweep, mop and vacuum floors. You will clean walls, ceilings, windows and other surfaces and restock items, such as toilet paper, paper towels, and other supplies. You may also need to maintain supply inventory, submit purchase requests, and assist with preparations for events, such as meetings and training. As a custodian you are to respond to member and staff service needs quickly and efficiently. To be a successful Custodian, you should be observant, respectful, motivated, and committed to providing members, visitors, and staff with a clean, orderly place to congregate. To work well in this role you should have basic experience cleaning.

CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION:
I will support the YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region's commitment to child abuse prevention by:
Reporting any suspicious behavior and violation of policy and procedures to your supervisor
Following all policies and procedures related to keeping children safe in our facilities and programs, including those related to the monitoring and supervision of children
Completing all child abuse prevention training as required
Reporting any items that may provide a health or safety hazard to staff, members or guests to your supervisor
The YMCA has zero tolerance for abuse. We will report all suspected and/or allegations of abuse to the state and federal law.
CERTIFICATIONS:
Complete Hazardous Communications, Managing Your Risk of Exposure to Blood borne Pathogens and Child Sexual Abuse Prevention training every year
Maintain CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer every year
Maintain First Aid and Administering Emergency Oxygen every 2 years
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Maintaining clean facilities by performing daily/weekly/monthly duties in all areas of the building and grounds.
Duties to include but not limited to: sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, windows, mirrors, empty trash and recycling
Clean sidewalks, parking lots and other outdoor areas of trash and debris
Assist with snow removal
Collect and/or remove soiled towels from the locker rooms and other parts of the facility
Do laundry (towels, mop heads) throughout shift
Restock consumables (soap, toilet paper, paper towels, hand sanitizer) and other supplies
Observing proper chemical handling procedures when working with cleaning agents, including wearing gloves, goggles, or masks and following written or verbal instructions.
Maintaining cleaning equipment.
Clean up spills with appropriate equipment.
Assisting with event preparations and cleaning up.
Interacting with members, staff and visitors in a respectful, positive manner.
May require various shift assignments
Report any building damage or mechanical deficiencies to Custodian Director
Other duties as assigned

Must be able to read and understand the SDS book

QUALIFICATIONS:
At least 18 years of age
Ability to read and write
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Flexibility to adjust schedules to suit the needs of the organization.
Motivation to work independently or with others to provide thorough, efficient custodial services.
Physically agile and dexterous.
Basic math skills.
Basic knowledge of cleaning equipment and agents.
Outstanding organizational skills.
