The Custodian

is a classified position focused on executing custodial tasks to ensure cleanliness, sanitary conditions, and overall appearance of SOWELA buildings, facilities, and grounds. Responsible for maintaining, cleaning, and disinfecting all areas of a facility. Perform basic cleaning, sanitation, and minor maintenance of an assigned building and associated grounds including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, polishing, trash removal, etc.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

Performs varied custodial tasks related to the upkeep of buildings, such as cleaning, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, polishing, and trash removal. Performs custodial related duties required to maintain cleanliness and sanitary conditions (including, but not limited to, mopping, sweeping, polishing and dusting). Mix and blend cleaning solutions to proper concentration as necessary for various tasks. Ensure proper use, identification, mixture and application of chemicals, including the requirements and use of Safety Data Sheets. Other duties as deemed necessary.
