About this Job
The Louisiana Special School District (LSSD) is an education service agency who provides services to the Louisiana Special Schools (Louisiana School for the Deaf, Louisiana School for the Visually Impaired and Special School Programs). The schools provide educational opportunities to students with low-incidence disabilities and a variety of unique needs.

We're seeking a reliable and hardworking Custodian to help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our staff and visitors. Responsibilities include routine cleaning, sanitizing high-touch areas, restocking supplies, and performing light maintenance tasks. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, dependable, and committed to high standards of cleanliness.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:

  • Cleans bathrooms, offices, hallways, and any other assigned areas by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and polishing.
  • Empties and decontaminates trash containers; may assist in disposing of infectious waste.
  • Moves, rearranges, and dusts furniture and fixtures.
  • Learns to mix or blend cleaning solutions to proper concentrations as necessary for various tasks.
  • Washes blinds, windows, and walls with prescribed solutions.
  • Operates vacuum for cleaning carpeted areas.
  • Strips, decontaminates, and makes beds for patients, residents, students, etc.
  • Reports needs for minor building and/or equipment repairs to a higher-level custodian.
  • Washes, dries, folds, and issues clothing, linens, etc. as assigned.
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: Probational
Work Schedule: Typically, work hours are 8:00 am-4:30 pm Monday - Friday. Flexible work schedules may be available after meeting certain criteria and is dependent upon the position for which you are applying.
