Job Description




Woodward Resource Center (WRC) is seeking a Custodial Worker to join our team.

Shift: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM Mon-Friday

No specific education or experience is required. A successful candidate must complete multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment and maintain organization. They should also have excellent communication skills to communicate with staff members throughout their shift.

The mission of Woodward Resource Center is to prepare and support individuals to live in the community of their choice. Discharge planning begins at admission.

As part of the WRC team:

  • General cleaning of assigned areas including but not limited to: sweep, dust mop, wet mop, wipe surfaces, dust surfaces, empty trash, vacuum, window washing, dusts, cleans, and polishes furniture, counters, shelving, and window or door ledges and casings using cloths and cleaning or polishing solutions. Wash walls, ceilings, and partitions, using wall brushes, wet mops, cloths, and cleaning solutions. Collects and places trash in trash pick-up area. Floor Care: Carpet/Upholstery spot cleaned, extracted. Sweeps, dusts, and wet mops floors or stairs; Machine scrubbing, stripping, and re-coating of hard surface floors as assigned by supervisor. Cleaning and maintenance of cleaning equipment after use. Responds appropriately to special requests, unusual circumstances, special projects, or other duties assigned by manager/supervisor.
  • General cleaning and disinfecting of restrooms in assigned areas including but not limited to: Cleans lavatories, toilets, and bath facilities using cleansers and disinfectant solutions, brushes, cloths, and mops. Checks and restocks consumable supplies like toilet paper, towels and soap. Disposes of trash and other discards: collects and places trash in trash pick-up area.
  • Related duties: Makes minor repairs to secure table legs, replace handles, knobs, light bulbs, and similar items; tightens screws on toilet seats, inspects general condition of the assigned areas and makes prompt reports of anything out of the ordinary to your manager/supervisor. Performs related tasks. Make safety checks including but not limited to: observe and check locked doors, electrical cords, and tripping/slipping hazards. Move furniture and equipment for cleaning and redecorating by lifting and carrying light to heavy objects. Customer and Personal Service - This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and pro-actively identifying and addressing cleaning issues.
  • Periodic duties: Clean light fixtures. Sweep and remove snow from steps and sidewalks immediately adjacent to assigned buildings, using brooms, snow shovels, and powered removal equipment. Covers work assignments for absent co-workers, working with and training clients. Attend required classes and meetings. Follow all policies set forth by WRC. All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:

1) Graduation from high school, GED, or equivalency.
2) One year of full-time work experience in commercial building maintenance or housekeeping.
