Job Description

We're currently looking for the right candidate to fulfill the overnight shift, 7:00p-7:00a, a rotating two-week schedule, with 3 days on the first week and 4 days on the next, working every other weekend. This shift is offered an additional shift incentive.

Job Purpose:

Responsible for providing supervision, crisis planning, resources, medication management, and general support for clients with severe and persistent mental illnesses who have been referred to the SMHCC facility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



Conduct initial crisis screens and assisting clients through admission processes Maintain positive team efforts and communication with management, crisis nurse, crisis therapist, and other crisis technicians. Collect vitals and drug screens under the direction and oversight of the crisis nurse. Conduct structured skill-building groups with oversight of the mental health professional. Ability to effectively utilize office equipment to scan, fax, copy, and upload confidential information to electronic health record system. Ability to maintain a safe, clean, and sanitary environment by adhering to health and safety policies and guidelines. Ability to prepare and serve substantial meals and store leftover items according to health guideline. Care coordination duties as needed to include assisting clients in finding, accessing, and maintaining eligible benefits and resources within the community. Maintain individual charts on each client in adherence to Iowa Code Chapter 24 and other policies and regulations established by the agency. Record timely, up-to-date progress notes for each contact with clients utilizing electronic health record system, in adherence to Iowa Code Chapter 24 and program requirements. Improve professional skills through continuing education; will be required to take 30 hours of required mental health crisis training per Chapter 24 guidelines. Participate in case reviews as a member of the multidisciplinary team.
Monitor general, cleaning and food inventory and inform management of necessary purchases; complete purchases as requested by management.

Participate in an interdisciplinary approach to client care, complete internal program referrals, and demonstrate a high degree of team-based treatment.

Experience and Education:



Required:

A bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours or equivalent in a human services field (including, but not limited to, psychology, social work, nursing, education) and a minimum of one year of experience in behavioral or mental health services (OR), A law enforcement officer with a minimum of two years of experience in the law enforcement officer's field (OR), An emergency medical technician (EMT) with a minimum of two years of experience in the EMT's field (OR), A peer support specialist with a minimum of one year of experience in behavioral or mental health services (OR), A family support peer specialist with a minimum of one year of experience in behavioral or mental health services (OR), A bachelor's degree in a non-human services-related field, associate's degree, or high school diploma (or equivalency) with a minimum of two years of experience in behavioral or mental health services, and 30 hours of crisis and mental health in-service training (in addition to the required 30 hours of department-approved training). Computer literacy and experience with electronic health records. A valid driver's license.
