Job Description

Manage and oversee the Lending Quality Control team, ensuring the effective assessment and management of credit risk within the organization. This includes supervising team members, developing and implementing risk management strategies, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.




Duties and Responsibilities:




Manage applicable teams including hiring, coaching, training, and inspiring them to excel in the performance of their roles, including conducting frequent one-on-ones, assisting them in addressing compliance challenges and issues, and preparing them to support other Credit Risk functions and roles. Train and support teams in their efforts to execute Lending & Operational Compliance Assessments and work with assigned business lines on root cause analysis and management action plan programs. Responsible for review and approval of compliance assessments completed by all Lending Compliance Analysts. Establish and manage Consumer, Mortgage and Commercial loan quality standards, post-close file reviews, and overall quality control. Develop and implement credit risk assessment and management strategies utilizing data and trend analysis. Train and coach team members in understanding compliance and related risks within Idaho Central's risk management function and enterprise-wide risk management program. Prepare and present reports to senior management on credit risk activities and findings. Act as a subject matter expert on compliance-related mortgage activities, including but not limited to: TRID, ECOA, HMDA, and all other consumer, mortgage and commercial lending regulations. Maintain first line of defense compliance controls, processes, and reporting. Work with any third-party regulator, examiner, or auditor and supply the necessary commentary on each of our loan portfolios. Keep informed on industry trends and stay up to date on underwriting guidelines. Supervise team member work schedules, PTO, workload, managing daily activities and projects, long-term priorities, and monitoring service levels. Periodically review and update as needed procedures governing the Quality Control team member roles, activities, duties, and processes. Complete performance evaluations, strength development plans, and team member corrective action documentation if necessary. Interface with and provide progress reports to the VP of Credit Risk related to the Credit Risk team member functions through scheduled one-on-ones and additionally as needed. Prepare written reports for the VP of Credit Risk and Executive Management as assigned. Complete projects assigned by the VP of Credit Risk and/or the Chief Lending Officer. Proficient in data analytics and the ability to coach Analysts and other team members in data analysis. Assist with other duties and projects assigned.



Qualifications:





Previous supervisory or management experience preferred, or a minimum of 2+ years' experience in underwriting or processing in Consumer, Mortgage or Commercial Lending. Possess strong leadership skills, training skills, and people management skills. Ability to lead, coach, and train others in lending/operational compliance and applicable assessments. Ability to communicate with Senior Management and with all Credit Union personnel. Ability to always maintain confidentiality of Credit Union and member records.




Performance Standard:





The position requires the ability to lead, coach, and train others to excel in credit risk management, analyze and respond to credit-related risks, and manage team members to support the organization's credit risk needs effectively and efficiently. It also requires knowledge of all applicable laws, rules, and regulations, and the ability to keep executive management informed. Strong communication, organizational, and workload management skills are essential.




Physical Requirements:




Perform tasks requiring manual dexterity (processing paperwork, filing, stapling, sorting, collating, typing, counting cash, etc.). Sit for extended periods of time. Lift 20-40 pounds of applicable supplies including but not limited to copy paper, cash drawers, marketing material, etc. Repetitive motion using wrists, hands, and fingers. Reach keyboards. Ability to operate basic office machines (calculator, computer, telephone, copy machine, fax machine, etc.).
