Position Summary:


The Patient Courier plays a vital role in supporting clinical operations by safely and efficiently transporting patients, medical specimens, and equipment throughout the hospital. This position ensures timely movement and delivery within the facility to enhance patient care and operational flow.


Key Responsibilities


Patient Transport

Safely transport patients between departments (e.g., Radiology, Nursing Units) Assist with discharges, including wheelchair support to waiting vehicles Ensure patient comfort and safety during transit Communicate with nursing and clinical staff regarding patient needs

Courier Duties

Make facility rounds at least six times per 12-hour shift Transport lab specimens between nursing units and the laboratory Retrieve and deliver medical equipment (e.g., SCD pumps, IV pumps, feeding pumps) Prioritize tasks based on direction from the Nursing Supervisor

Equipment & Safety

Sanitize transport equipment before and after use Maintain and inspect equipment for safety and functionality Comply with infection control and HIPAA regulations

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED required BLS Certification (must be obtained within 30 days of hire) Ability to lift and move patients and equipment safely Strong interpersonal and communication skills Excellent time management and task prioritization
