Job Description

JOB SUMMARY



The Chemical Dependency Counselor's Assistant at Dove Recovery provides comprehensive substance use disorder treatment services. This role assists with client assessment, individual and group counseling activities. The Counselor's Assistant plays a vital role in promoting recovery, maintaining therapeutic engagement, and supporting clients in achieving treatment goals in alignment with Dove Recovery's mission and values.

Key Responsibilities



Individual Counseling Support



Assist in providing individual counseling services under supervision, utilizing evidence-based and recovery-oriented practices Support clients in identifying goals, strengths, and barriers to recovery Reinforce treatment plans and therapeutic interventions

Group Facilitation



Facilitate/co-facilitate or assist with psychoeducational and therapeutic groups Prepare group materials and activities focused on substance use recovery, coping skills, relapse prevention, and life skills Promote a safe, respectful, and supportive group environment Collaborate with the treatment team to support continuity of care and discharge planning. Maintain accurate and timely progress notes, group notes, and case documentation in accordance with agency policies and regulatory requirements Adhere to confidentiality standards, ethical guidelines, and applicable state and federal regulations

Team Collaboration



Participate in treatment team meetings, supervision, and trainings Communicate effectively with counselors, case managers, and other staff to support coordinated care Uphold Dove Recovery's mission, values, and trauma-informed approach

Qualifications



Required:



High school diploma or GED required Interest in working with individuals experiencing substance use disorders Ability to work under supervision and follow treatment protocols Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant (CDCA) certification.

Preferred:



Previous experience in substance use disorder treatment or behavioral health setting Knowledge of recovery-oriented and trauma-informed care

Physical & Work Requirements



Ability to sit, stand, and move throughout the facility Ability to facilitate or assist in group settings Ability to manage emotional and behavioral challenges in a therapeutic environment
