Job Description

Alamance Academy Day is seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and growth-oriented Counseling Support Specialist to join our therapeutic educational team. Under the supervision and guidance of our licensed Student & Family Counselor, the Clinical Support Aide will provide direct therapeutic services to students and families while contributing to a trauma-informed, emotionally supportive school culture.

Key Responsibilities (Under direct supervision of the Student & Family Counselor):



Conduct check-ins with assigned students to address emotional regulation, trauma, behavioral challenges, and social-emotional development. Implement individualized counseling plans in collaboration with staff, caregivers, and the student. Facilitate small groups focusing on topics such as anger management, coping skills, peer relationships, conflict resolution, and self-esteem. Support family counseling sessions to strengthen communication and family systems. Maintain up-to-date clinical documentation, including session notes, treatment plans, and family outreach logs. Prepare professional summaries and correspondence for internal and external use while upholding strict confidentiality and ethical standards. Participate in weekly interdisciplinary team meetings to review student progress and refine interventions. Consult with school staff on trauma-informed practices and behavior management strategies. Contribute to the school's therapeutic culture and promote a safe, predictable, and emotionally responsive environment.

Qualifications:



Bachelor's degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or related mental health field required. (Graduate Degree and Licensure In Progress preferred) Experience working with children or adolescents, particularly those with behavioral and emotional needs. Familiarity with trauma-informed care and family systems work. Strong clinical writing and verbal communication skills. High level of professionalism, ethical integrity, and discretion. Passion for supporting students and families within an educational setting.
Job Types: Part-time, Contract, Internship

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 - 35 per week

Work Location: In person
