Serves as a Unit Supervisor within a correctional facility, focusing on the safety, security, and operations of a unit. This role involves managing staff, ensuring compliance with regulations, and overseeing the treatment and rehabilitation of inmates.

Minimum Qualifications

Four years of experience in a correctional, behavioral, or penal institution with responsibility for the security, custody, rehabilitation, or classification of offenders, or in law enforcement or security plus one of the following:



1. Possession of a high school diploma or GED; OR

2. One year of experience in any field; OR

3. Six months of law enforcement experience as a POST certified peace officer.



Two years of this experience must have been in a position equivalent in scope of responsibility or complexity of work performed to a Corrections Lieutenant in the State service.



NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

An applicant who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence or a felony, or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.



In accordance with the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) (Part 115:17) of Title 28 of the Code of Federal Regulations an applicant who has been found to have engaged in any form of sexual abuse; engaged in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable or refused will be disqualified.



Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.



Possession of a current driver's license.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

Serves as a Unit Manager within Allen Correctional Center. Responsible for overseeing the operations of a unit, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures, and managing staff. This includes supervising Corrections Captains, reviewing disciplinary matters, conducting safety meetings, and assisting in the development of policies related to offender custody and treatment. Works with the Corrections Captain in their assigned unit/area to ensure efficient day to day operations of the assigned area. The incumbent of this position works for and supports the Corrections Lieutenant Colonel of the assigned area.

: PROMOTION of a permanent, classified employee of LA DPS&C - CORRECTIONS SERVICES (Adult DOC)

The selected employee may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted or may be required to accept a probational appointment.

Compensation:

This position has a

Special Entrance Rate (SER)

of $26.37 per hour.

There is 'Premium Pay' for this position: A rate between

$.50

an hour

and $1.00

an hour for each hour worked based on years of service with DOC, in addition to regular pay.

Note regarding the advertised pay range: The maximum amounts listed are the maximum salary amounts a person can make at each level over their career and NOT the amount we are allowed to pay a new hire.
