This position serves in the Office of Adult Services Internal Affairs Section as the lead Chief Investigative Officer.



The Internal Affairs Section has investigative oversight over all areas of Corrections Services, including, but not limited to, State prisons, local jails, detention centers, Probation and Parole Districts, Transitional Work centers, etc. This Section is responsible for investigations and review of investigations at the highest levels and with the most sensitive issues.

Minimum Qualifications


--------------------------

Four years of experience in a correctional, behavioral, or penal institution with responsibility for the security, custody, rehabilitation, or classification of offenders, or in law enforcement or security plus one of the following:



1. Possession of a high school diploma or GED; OR

2. One year of experience in any field; OR

3. Six months of law enforcement experience as a POST certified peace officer.



One year of this experience must have been in a position equivalent in scope of responsibility or complexity of work performed to a Corrections Captain in State service.



NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

An applicant who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence or a felony, or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.



In accordance with the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) (Part 115:17) of Title 28 of the Code of Federal Regulations an applicant who has been found to have engaged in any form of sexual abuse; engaged in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable or refused will be disqualified.



Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.

Job Duties and Other Information

Directs staff, assigns cases and manages and monitors Department investigations.


Writes and reviews reports, coordinates activities of other investigators within DOC. Serves as liaison between the investigations staff and other agencies on investigative matters.


Oversees and/or Conducts complex and/or sensitive internal investigations of DOC employees and of the offender population. May investigate and/or interview high level officials, including but not limited to Sheriffs and Probation and Parole employees.


Possession of a current driver's license.


Supervise Corrections Majors in this section.

: PROBATION, or PROMOTION OF A PERMANENT, CLASSIFIED LOUISIANA STATE EMPLOYEE



Current permanent status classified LA State employees may be required to accept a probational appointment if accepted. An employee selected for a promotion may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted. This posting may also be used to fill a vacancy as a temporary job appointment. If filled as a temporary job appointment, should a permanent position become available, the employee may be converted to a probational appointment.
