The Corporate Safety Administrator will oversee the development, implementation, and continual improvement of our Corporate health and safety programs, systems, and processes that meet or exceed company objectives across multiple business lines under the direct supervision of the General Manager. This includes ensuring appropriate policies, practices, and strategies are defined and enforced in accordance with local and government regulations and guidelines, as well as monitoring the impact of contractual requirements, emerging issues, regulations, and legislation on company operations.
The Corporate Safety Administrator will actively participate with minimum direction to investigate safety and health incidents and complaints, conduct audits, and analyze data to assess program effectiveness and develop corrective action plans. Strong team management, leadership, clear communication, and the ability to develop solid inter-departmental relationships are essential in this role.
Specific responsibilities will vary depending on the business line. For Site Safety and Health Officer, oversight will be focused on the continual improvement of facility and project health and safety programs and processes and promoting compliance with applicable regulations and guidelines. This position will establish and implement the Corporate Safety Program. Oversight will include ensuring consistency in Health and Safety policies, procedures, documentation, and reporting across all Awalix / ACSPI companies.
Regardless of the specific focus, the Corporate Safety Administrator will be responsible for establishing and providing leadership/guidance to all Awalix / ACSPI Subsidiary companies to administer effective Health and Safety programs within their businesses, and for promoting overall compliance with applicable regulations and guidelines.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Establish and implement Corporate wide Health and Safety Plan across Awalix and ACSPI activities and companies.
Formulate, create, and maintain site/contract safety plans specific to projects and/or contracts when necessary or required.
Assist in creating and maintaining Activity Hazard Analysis, evaluate hazards within the job site for safety and health risks, and develop hazard control practices and programs.
Assist in the creation and maintenance of site/contract safety plan(s) specific to projects and/or contracts when necessary or required.
Conduct daily safety and health inspections and maintain a written log.
Conduct safety training for employees and management to promote a culture of safety and reduce the risk of accidents and injuries.
Perform new-hire orientation and training.
Communicate, educate, and train employees in safety awareness and specific safety requirements according to OSHA and EM385-1-1.
Ensure that all employees have received the required training on the hazards specific to their position and documents such training in a manner that demonstrates the employee understands.
Make sure all personnel and subcontractors are trained and certified (when required) and are up to date on various internal safety programs/activities.
Maintain their own current training requirements.
Investigate accidents and incidents to determine the root cause and recommend corrective actions to prevent future incidents.
Conduct mishap investigations and complete required reports.
Accurately report accidents and illnesses within reporting timelines.
Perform timely investigations of workplace accidents, injuries, illnesses, and near-misses, identification of root cause and rapid correction of contributing factors with documented closure.
Ensure that the company complies with all regulatory requirements related to safety and health.
Implement and enforce accepted APP's and AHA's.
Ensure sub-contractor compliance with safety and health requirements.
Consult with industry professionals to stay current on trends and issues.
Enforce Awalix and ACSPI Policies, Procedures, and Programs.
Provide guidance and support to the safety and health personnel in their region, as well as to management and employees, to promote a safe and healthy work environment.
Monitor follow-up treatment of injured workers and assists with the development of modified duty positions, as appropriate, to minimize the cost of worker's compensation claims.
Monitor safety metrics, such as injury rates and near-miss incidents, to identify trends and implement proactive measures to prevent accidents and injuries.
Maintain a safety and health deficiency tracking system that monitors outstanding deficiencies until resolution.
Recognize a variety of issues, problems or opportunities and determine whether action is needed; identify the need for and collect information to better understand issues, problems, and opportunities Integrate information from a variety of sources; detect general trends, associations, and cause-effect relationships.
Collaborate with other departments, such as human resources and operations, to ensure that safety and health considerations are integrated into all aspects of the company's operations.
Attend company meetings including preparatory inspection meetings, and periodic in-progress meetings.
Maintain records and reports related to safety and health, such as accident reports and safety training records, to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and to identify areas for improvement.
Ensure proper employee, company, and subcontractor certifications are obtained and maintained.
Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
30-hour OSHA construction or general industry safety class or equivalent (OSHA 500, etc.) within the last 5 years.
Any applicable Train the Trainor courses in Health and Safety.
EM 385-1-1 Competent person training as needed.
Current CPR/First Aid certification.
EM385-1-1 compliant 24-hour Competent Person for Fall Protection preferred.
Working knowledge of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Safety regulations (EM385-1-1).
Ability to apply working knowledge of federal and state regulations to determine compliance within program area(s).
Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
A valid driver's license.
Ability to pass a security clearance/background check
Nationally recognized Safety and/or Health Certificate or the ability to obtain one in a year (CSHT, ASP, CSHM, CSP, CIH).
