About being our Corporate Paralegal

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Corporate Paralegal to join our dynamic team at Psomas. As a Corporate Paralegal, you will support the legal and compliance operations of our 700+ person, multi-state Civil Engineering & Consulting firm.

Reporting to the General Counsel, you will contribute to various legal tasks including managing upstream and downstream contracts and insurance, managing corporate registrations and licenses in numerous jurisdictions, and fulfilling a range of other paralegal responsibilities.

Your attention to detail, legal acumen, and collaborative spirit will be essential in ensuring the legal affairs of our company are managed efficiently and effectively.

Responsibility Highlights for our Corporate Paralegal
  • Coordinate and assist the legal department with upstream (client) and downstream (subconsultant) contract management.
  • Assist in the management and tracking of Certificates of Insurance, as well responding to internal and external insurance-related inquiries.
  • Coordinate searches and review of project records and emails in response to civil discovery requests, subpoenas, and investigations.
  • Assist the General Counsel in various litigation and collection matters, including the drafting and management of civil discovery responses, pleadings, legal holds, and mechanic\'s liens.
  • Coordinate and manage the firm\'s lobbyist registration, conflict-of-interest, and other disclosure reporting requirements, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external legal partners as needed.
  • Perform other paralegal and compliance-related duties as assigned by the General Counsel.

  • Legal Expertise: Possess a solid understanding of corporate legal principles, procedures, and best practices.
  • Attention to Detail: Demonstrate meticulous attention to detail in reviewing legal documents, contracts, and correspondence.
  • Analytical Thinking: Able to analyze complex legal issues and situations, identify relevant information, and draw logical conclusions.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with internal teams, clients, and external partners.
  • Organization: Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines.
  • Confidentiality: Uphold the highest level of confidentiality and professionalism in handling sensitive legal matters.
Minimum Qualifications for our Corporate Paralegal
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Paralegal Studies or a Paralegal certificate from an accredited institution.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience as a Corporate Paralegal, preferably within the architecture, engineering or construction industry. Alternatively, at least 3-5 years of experience as a Paralegal in a Litigation Firm, preferably representing companies in the architecture, engineering or construction industry.
  • Strong working knowledge of contract management, insurance and certificates of insurance.
  • Experience with civil discovery and subpoenas.
  • Proficiency in legal software, online platforms and computer databases.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work independently.
