Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Corporate Controller to lead the financial and accounting operations for a real estate investment, development, and property management company. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company's financial and accounting functions, as well as managing the day-to-day accounting processes and ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting. The ideal candidate will be highly skilled, proactive, and have experience in the real estate sector. This position reports to the President of the company.

Spectrum Capital is a diversified real estate company engaged in all aspects of development, sales, and management of properties located throughout the Southeast. Projects either underway or already completed by Spectrum Capital include 15 high-rise condominium towers, featuring over 2,500 condominium units, a professional baseball stadium, and over 1 million square feet of retail with total project costs exceeding $1 billion.

Key Responsibilities

Lead, manage, and direct all financial activities, including accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash management to drive financial success and operational efficiency. Oversee the month-end and year-end closing processes, including reconciliations, journal entries, and preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP. Establish, maintain, and enhance accounting policies and internal control procedures to ensure accuracy, compliance, and reliability of financial data. Supervise and mentor accounting staff, ensuring their development, growth, and alignment with business goals. Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits, tax filings, and compliance with regulatory requirements. Monitor cash flow, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and other key financial metrics to ensure the organization's financial health. Act as a strategic partner in analyzing real estate transactions, improving operational efficiency, and providing financial insights for investment and property management activities. Utilize and enhance the company's Yardi software system to streamline operations, reporting, and analysis.

Requirements



Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required; CPA or MBA is strongly preferred. Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance. Experience in the real estate industry (investment, development, or property management) preferred. Hands-on expertise with Yardi preferred. Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting. Proficiency in financial systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Proven ability to lead finance teams and collaborate across departments to achieve company objectives.

Pay: $120,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
