Job Description

Dixon Ticonderoga Company is seeking a Corporate Controller to join our team. Position Summary:

The Corporate Controller role will be a strategic, critical thinking partner within Finance and a business partner/advisor to Operations. The successful candidate will be excited to improve processes, flexible to change, eager to collaborate with individuals within Finance and Accounting, and interact with other departments within the organization, supporting the following areas: accounting, finance, profitability analysis, reporting, forecasting, and budgeting. Essential Functions:




Direct financial accounting and reporting in SAP for all companies within the North American Group, consisting of a US parent company, two Canadian subsidiaries and a Hong Kong subsidiary; Assuming ownership of Balance Sheet, Statement of Cash Flows; Income Statement, and management financial reports; Oversee the reporting of financial and non-financial data to parent company, F.I.L.A., a publicly held Italian company, via Tagetik, a consolidation tool and depository of information; Responsible for detailed Income Statement and Balance Sheet projections (annual budgets and reforecasts); Perform financial analysis of corporate financial results, super net margin results by customers/brands/product groups, and projections, including recommendations to management; Research and resolve accounting issues, including evaluation and implementation of new accounting pronouncements to ensure US GAAP and IFRS compliance; Develop and maintain integrity and strengthen Section 262 Internal Controls over financial accounting and reporting, interacting with external auditors; Partner with Operations validating metrics and evaluating projects, including Make versus Buy, Lease versus Buy, and other operating decision points; Identify opportunities for cost reduction and operational improvements; Responsible for areas of General Ledger Accounting, Cost/Inventory Accounting and Business Analysis; Ensure costs for the Company's products are allocated according to corporate procedures and in compliance with financial accounting standards; and accuracy of inventory valuation at actual average cost; Responsible for interim and annual external reviews and audits; Support acquisition activities including financial modeling, due diligence, and integration efforts; Protect organization's value by keeping information confidential; and Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations.



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

:


Strong analytical, problem solving, decision-making abilities with good business acumen; Extensive knowledge of US GAAP required and IFRS knowledge a plus; Strong time management and planning skills, managing many different priorities at once, meeting frequent deadlines; Possess strong management skills, including staff hiring, training, development, and succession planning, with 10 direct and indirect reports; Self-motivated, strong work ethic, self-starter, hard-working, conscientious, highly engaged, motivator and team builder; Sound understanding of financial statements, general ledger accounts, internal controls, external audits, variance analysis, and financial close process; Proficient technology skills including data extraction, analysis, and advanced use of Microsoft Excel; Excellent interpersonal, and written and oral communication skills; and While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, stand, use hands to operate computer, phone, and talk and hear with specific vision abilities required by this job, including close vision and the ability to adjust focus.



Education and Experience:




Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required; A minimum of 7 years prior experience with 3-5 years as an Accounting Manager or Controller is required; 3-5 years of experience in a national or regional public accounting firm preferred; Previous experience in a manufacturing environment preferred; CPA, CMA or MBA is preferred; and Prior experience with SAP is a plus.
