As our Summer 2026 Walsworth Copywriting Intern, you will participate in training and projects within various corporate marketing functions: copywriting, web content management, social media marketing, project management, etc. This full-time, paid internship is based out of our Walsworth - Overland Park office and reports to the Yearbook Copywriter. The work schedule for this 100% in-office internship is 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Note: Intern interviews are scheduled to begin by mid-October.
Essential Functions
Write short- and long-form copy, including blogs, magazine articles/ads, website content, social media content, email campaigns and more
Assist with writing, editing, updating and applying a Walsworth brand voice to various marketing materials, including email marketing materials, social media campaigns, Idea File magazine and a Planning Kit
Develop yearbook-centered lesson plans and other educational resources for use in the classroom
Serve as assistant editor for Idea File magazine, which includes editing content, consulting on the visual design, writing ad copy and keeping the content cohesive to the Walsworth brand guidelines
Refresh yearly social media calendar and create new social media content
Assist with yearbook review and content selection for feature Theme Gallery and Cover Gallery
Research and report on current marketing and industry trends
Utilize Monday.com for project management
Comply with all safety and work rules and regulations
Complete other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Excellent copywriting and copyediting skills
Basic understanding of marketing functions and operations
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
Knowledge of current design, marketing and journalism trends
Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects
Ability to remain organized and self-directed in a fast-paced environment
Ability to interface with a variety of individuals or groups on a frequent basis
Ability to work with limited direction and supervision
Ability to learn computer applications as necessary for the position
Ability to read, interpret and follow verbal and written instructions, work procedures and other related materials
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong customer service skills
Minimum Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent (required)
Currently enrolled in a college degree program (English, marketing, communications, journalism or related degree programs preferred)
Preference given to incoming juniors and seniors, but sophomores will be considered on a case-by-case basis
Experience in a copywriting or journalism in a professional setting (preferred)
Yearbook, newspaper or related experience (preferred)
Familiarity with AP Style (preferred)
Have reliable transportation to and from the assigned Overland Park, Kansas, office location (required)
U.S. work authorization is required, candidate must also complete a pre-employment drug screen

Internship compensation is set at $18/hour and includes an optional 401(k) program and company match and one paid day off for the Independence Day holiday. Walsworth is an equal opportunity employer. Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
High School diploma or equivalent
Completion of at least 60 credit hours towards a degree program OR completion of at least four semesters of college (preferred)
