Job Description




Job Summary:

We are looking for a motivated, passionate student to come work with our Privacy Office. With offices in the United States, multiple countries in Europe, Australia, Brazil and Canada, Vertex is subject to a myriad of data protection laws around the globe. This internship will expose the intern to the various elements and requirements that make up a privacy program and learn how we work cross-functionally to advise the business on new initiatives and programs. Through these interactions there will be opportunities to learn about the general operations of a pharmaceutical company. Key Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing and updating the company\xe2\x80\x99s privacy related notices, policies and procedures;
  • Performing privacy assessments of business processes, under the guidance of Privacy Counsel, to help internal clients design processes in compliance with applicable data protection requirements;
  • Assisting business process owners in completing data inventories and data protection impact assistants and work with Privacy Counsel to advise the business on risk mitigation;
  • Revising playbooks and other activities related to negotiation of Data Processing Agreements and Standard Contractual Clauses with vendors;
  • Keeping abreast of privacy developments (e.g., evolving guidance out of the European Union, ex-EU, US Privacy acts and upcoming discussions and proposals of Global privacy laws) and developing effective ways to track and communicate updates;
  • Conducting project-based analyses involving new laws, regulations or guidance that potentially impact our business and,
  • Working with our head of Privacy Operations on specific projects.
Qualifications:
  • 2L or 3L student in an accredited law school
  • Demonstrated interest in privacy and security compliance, risk management, and data governance
  • Strong research and analytical skills, as well as attention to detail
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PPT, XLS, Word)
