Summary of Job Duties: The cook prepares meals and snacks according to recipes and menus planned by the Nutrition/Health Resource Specialist. The cook prepares substitutions for dietary allergies/restrictions. The cook maintains a high level of cleanliness in the kitchen and storage areas. The cook must keep accurate records on a daily basis. The cook must have the ability to communicate effectively with outside organizations and interact with children during mealtimes, as needed. The cook is expected to attend meetings, trainings, and workshops as requested. This job description is intended as a general summary of the role. It does not address every potential task, duty or responsibility associated with the role and employment at UAMS. Additionally, duties and responsibilities may change with the changing needs of the work unit, department or organization.

Qualifications:

HS diploma/GED, plus 6 months food service experience.

Additional Information:
  • Prepares meals and snacks for children and staff. Inventory of food, supplies and equipment.
  • Maintains a high level of cleanliness in kitchen and storage areas.
  • Obtain 15 hours of continued job-related education/training by attending workshops, continuing educational courses and meetings.
  • Assists with mealtime in classroom.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Salary Information: $15.00
