10123 Southpark Dr, Gulfport, MS 39503

HOURS OF OPERATION:

Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM

OVERTIME:

Saturdays as needed

PURPOSE:

The Converter Buyer / Inventory / Shipping Clerk is responsible for generating and maintaining a new customer base of scrap catalytic converter suppliers from the local market at competitive costs. Identify, pursue, and sign on new retail and commercial accounts.

RESPONSIBILITIES / BUYER / INVENTORY / SHIPPING CLERK:

Stay informed of local major automotive recyclers, repair shops, and towing operators. Purchase scrap catalytic converters from auto recyclers, auto repair shops, and other accounts. Review and ensure materials purchased are priced and coded correctly before payment. Maintain good business contacts and favorable relations with current customers by regularly keeping in contact to ensure meeting plant requirements for scrap catalytic converters. Maintain a list of retail and commercial accounts producing scrap catalytic converters and contact them on a regular basis to buy material (includes contact via phone and site visits). Protect and expand profit margins. Provide information required to maintain the internal software system, supplier information, and purchase contracts. Learn and comply with converter theft and acceptance policies. Review and enter material purchases into an inventory system. Monitor field buyers and electronically collect/enter purchase documents. Maintain a perpetual inventory system for accuracy and completeness. Assist in creating new product codes and descriptions. Create and distribute purchase/shipment/inventory reports. Accurately review, code, and enter invoices. Prepare weekly checks. Maintain accounts payable files. Analyze vendor accounts and reconcile with vendor statements; handle all vendor inquiries. Assist in monthly closings. Based on business demands, special projects or other duties may be assigned not listed above.

CORE COMPETENCIES:

Ability to identify and grade catalytic converters. Working knowledge of basic computer programs, including Microsoft Office Suite. Positive attitude, proactive, goal-oriented, self-starter, and ability to work with minimal supervision. Very strong interpersonal skills that will lead to a strong sales acumen. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Dependable, flexible, and able to work in a fast-paced, changing environment. Organized and attention to detail is required. Ability to multitask with excellent time management skills.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma required. College degree in business or engineering, or equivalent business experience, a plus. Up to 2 years of experience in a scrap/auto wreck business or in a related field, preferably in sales.
