Primary Function

As the Controls System Engineer, you will recommend and/ or support field installation of released water heater designs and hot water supply systems for commercial applications. Incumbent will also review new water heater designs from the perspective of system installations and apply field installation knowledge to new products or make design changes to existing products. This is a challenging position that requires foresight and conceptualization for a successful new product launch.

Responsibilities
  • Act as a liaison engineer between mechanical product engineering group and platform electronics group.
  • Assist Mechanical product engineers with electrical/electronic component selection and any prototype wiring needs.
  • Assist product engineering team with the data acquisition systems as needed. (Test data from unit under test, temperature, pressure/ water flow etc.)
  • Help update and track electronic hardware/firmware and software as needed on the development and field test units.
  • Reprogram control boards to add or remove functionalities for test units in labs using appropriate programming tools.
  • Help product engineering build test mules or test units supporting from electrical or electronics perspective.
  • Understand parametric controls used on the products and modify them as needed.
  • Cooperate with appropriate engineering functions - reliability, product engineering, manufacturing, Certification, field service engineering.
  • Participate in product design reviews with constructive input from application and installation perspective.
  • Gain industry and organizational knowledge through daily business interactions and job assignments.
  • Travel to any field test sites as needed and provide any support needed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor\'s degree in electrical or Electronics Engineering
  • Minimum 2 years of related work experience for bachelor\'s or zero with master\'s or Ph.D.
  • Experience with programming tools for Data Acquisition systems like Lab view or equivalent
  • Experience with trouble shooting of gas combustion systems or Heat pumps is highly desirable.
  • Experience or course work in power electronics is desirable.
  • Be able to respond quickly and logically without annoying the party seeking support.
  • Proactive and responsive team player who can thrive in a dynamic and changing environment.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
