Job Description

Job Summary:



The Controls Engineer is responsible for development, testing and implementation of all programming and electrical controls. This includes, but is not limited to all programmable controller platforms, graphical user interface platforms, gateways, AC/DC electrical schematic development and debugging as well as to train the Maintenance department on these systems as needed. This person will develop equipment control upgrades/strategies, troubleshooting and installation through full implantation. Additionally, this person will partner with Maintenance Technicians regarding Controls issues and assigned projects.



Job Duties:

Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:



Develop, test and implement all programming and electrical controls on oven and packaging equipment. This includes, but is not limited to all programmable controller platforms, graphical user interface platforms, gateways and debugging when necessary Develop AC/DC electrical schematics Electrical System design and implementation Project management Print library/archive management Troubleshoot and perform electrical repairs on oven and packaging equipment from 24 volt DC to 480 volt AC Drive equipment control upgrades, troubleshooting and installation Train the Maintenance department on electrical control systems and upgrades Perform safety audits and checks on oven and packaging equipment Develop and maintain documentation of assigned projects and equipment repairs through work orders Operate a forklift as needed Maintain current backup files of equipment programs

Required Competencies & Knowledge:

Knowledge of:



Procurement, products and production processes Knowledge and experience with CMMS programs. MVP, EAM, or SAP are nice to have Knowledge of OSHA regulations and standards Knowledge of NFPA 70E Arc Flash program

Skill in:



Demonstrated proficiency in electrical knowledge including AC/DC circuits, motor controls and troubleshooting/repair of up to 480 volt systems Demonstrated proficiency in PLC-GUI programming, controls design and implementation Demonstrated proficiency in Allen Bradley PLC software, Gateways, Ladder Logic, Panel View, RS Logic 500 software, Servos, VFD(s), Studio 5000, Device Net, Advanced Controls and Wonderware Demonstrated proficiency in AutoCAD electrical schematic one line drawing development and mechanical drawing development Basic IT trouble-shooting experience Factory Talk View experience with the ability to build, install and trouble-shoot Demonstrated proficiency in managing multiple projects and training coworkers

Ability to:



Be detailed-oriented, be self-directed, have strong self-confidence and have excellent oral and written communication skills Work overtime on short notice, including call-ins for emergencies Maintaining harmonious relationships and effectively communicating with all customers, suppliers, local and corporate-wide Maker's Pride employees

Proficiency in:

MS Office Suite, CMMS



Work Environment & Physical Requirements:



Position requires the ability to stand on one's feet for up to 8 hours (with breaks), walk, use hands to handle, feel and select objects (manual dexterity), grip, frequently reach with hands and arms, bend, twist, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, see, talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perceptions, and the ability to adjust focus. Position requires the ability to occasionally: Work in high temperature areas. Work at heights more than 2' from the ground Work around very strong magnetics

Minimum Qualifications:



Minimum of three (3) years electrical/programming design and implementation, project management, NFPA 70E program exposure, electrical/programming shop floor assistance/training Bachelor Degree from a 4-year accredited school in Electrical Engineering Must be detailed-oriented, be self-directed, have strong self-confidence and have excellent oral communication skills.
