Job Description

Seeking a Controls Engineer to develop customized automation solutions for high?temperature processes across industries such as aerospace, semiconductors, and materials science. This role works closely with cross?functional teams to deliver advanced furnace systems that meet strict client, timeline, and industry requirements.

  • Develop and deploy hardware and software control systems for high?temperature vacuum furnaces-using PLCs, HMIs, SCADA platforms, and embedded controllers-to regulate temperature, pressure, and vacuum conditions.
  • Write control programs in Ladder Logic, Function Block, Structured Text, and VBA to enable precise process control, data acquisition, and system automation.
  • Integrate sensors and subsystems such as thermocouples, pressure transducers, vacuum pumps, and gas delivery equipment into fully coordinated control architectures.
  • Create industrial control panel designs-including schematics, layouts, and bills of materials-in compliance with NFPA?79 and UL?508 standards using AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Perform testing, commissioning, and system validation to confirm furnace performance, reliability, and compliance with safety and industry regulations.
  • Diagnose and resolve control?related issues throughout design, manufacturing, and field deployment to ensure continuous and reliable furnace operation.
  • Refine control algorithms to improve thermal uniformity, process repeatability, and overall furnace efficiency.
  • Work closely with mechanical engineers, thermal process experts, and project managers to ensure control solutions align with furnace designs and customer requirements.
  • Produce comprehensive technical documentation, including test reports, operating guides, and maintenance instructions.
  • Support customer installations, offer on?site or remote technical assistance, and provide user training on furnace operation and control interfaces.
  • Contribute to research and development initiatives aimed at advancing next?generation vacuum furnace control technologies.

Drive High?Performance Electrical Panel EngineeringUL 508A, UFPA 79 Compliance Experience Desired!
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or related field.
  • 5 years of experience in controls engineering, ideally in thermal processing, vacuum systems, or OEM equipment manufacturing.
  • Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Eurotherm) and HMI/SCADA development (e.g., FactoryTalk SE, WinCC, Wonderware).
  • Experience with industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, EtherNet/IP, ProfiNet, IOLink) and data acquisition systems.
  • Knowledge of high-temperature process control, vacuum technology, or gas management systems is highly desirable.
  • Strong skills in electrical design software (AutoCAD Electrical).
  • Familiarity with Electrical and Industry standards relating to vacuum furnace compliance (NFPA 79 & 86).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose complex control system issues.
  • Strong communication skills for collaborating with internal teams and technical discussions with clients.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines in a precision-driven industry.
  • Preferred: Experience with motion control, PID tuning, thermal processing and gas control.

  • Salary: $105,000 - $125,000
