Job Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced, strategic, and detail-oriented Controller/CFO to join our management team and support a portfolio of companies operating under shared leadership. This role is ideal for a financial executive who thrives in a dynamic, multi-entity environment and is capable of overseeing complex financial operations while implementing strong internal controls, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving long-term financial health. You will lead and manage full-cycle accounting, financial planning, reporting, and risk management across multiple business units. This includes oversight of the general ledger, budgeting processes, cash flow management, audit coordination, and insurance administration (Workers' Compensation, General Liability, Bonding requirements, etc.). Compensation will be based on experience.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Leadership & Strategy Provide financial leadership and strategic direction for multiple companies within the management group. Partner with executive leadership to support business planning, forecasting, and long-term growth initiatives. Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to strengthen accuracy and efficiency. Accounting & General Ledger Oversight Oversee and manage all aspects of the general ledger for each entity. Ensure timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closings. Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements. Maintain a standardized chart of accounts and reporting structure across companies. Financial Reporting & Analysis Prepare and deliver consolidated and entity-specific financial statements. Conduct variance analyses, profitability studies, cost tracking, and performance reporting. Monitor cash flow, working capital, and financial KPIs to guide operational decisions.

Budgeting & Forecasting

Lead the annual budgeting process for each company. Maintain rolling forecasts and provide real-time financial insight to management.

Risk Management & Insurance

Manage Workers' Compensation and General Liability insurance programs across all companies. Coordinate and maintain bonding requirements, including renewals, applications, and compliance documentation. Evaluate insurance coverages to minimize risk and ensure adequate protection for all operations.

Regulatory Compliance

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and industry-specific regulations. Manage audit processes (financial, tax, insurance, and internal). Coordinate with external tax advisors and auditors as needed.

Team Leadership

Lead and mentor accounting staff supporting multiple entities. Ensure a collaborative, accountable, and high-performance finance team environment

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master's degree or MBA preferred). CPA or CMA strongly preferred. 10+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including 5+ years in a Controller, Director of Finance, or CFO role. Experience managing finances for multiple companies or complex multi-entity structures required. Strong technical expertise in GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls. Demonstrated experience overseeing Workers' Compensation, General Liability, and bonding programs. Highly proficient in modern accounting software and ERP systems. Exceptional analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
