Position Summary:
The Controller is responsible for overseeing all financial and accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and strong internal controls. This leadership role supports strategic decision-making, budgeting, and audit preparation to maintain the financial health of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare monthly financial statements, balance sheets, and income statements in accordance with GAAP.
Lead month-end and year-end closings and maintain general ledger integrity.
Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable (including resident billing), payroll, and cash management.
Analyze financial performance and provide actionable insights to leadership.
Lead the annual budgeting process and monitor budget performance.
Ensure compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, and state-specific reporting standards.
Coordinate external audits, tax filings, and cost report submissions.
Supervise accounting and finance staff, promoting a culture of accuracy and collaboration.
Partner with Admissions and Billing teams to manage resident accounts and collections.
Support operational and strategic initiatives across departments.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA preferred).
Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience with supervisory responsibilities.
Experience in long-term care, senior living, or healthcare strongly preferred.
Familiarity with healthcare reimbursement systems (Medicare, Medicaid, private pay).
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage Intacct, QuickBooks, MatrixCare, PointClickCare).
Advanced Excel and data analysis skills.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
