Role Overview:



The Controller is responsible for overseeing all accounting operations and maintaining the financial health of the company. This role ensures the accuracy of financial records, compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), and timely tax filings in coordination with the company's accounting firm. The Controller also provides strategic financial insights to support business planning and decision-making.

Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:

Oversee and execute all aspects of accounting, including billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, and financial reporting Ensure timely and accurate completion of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes Prepare and present financial statements and reports to the executive team Review and approve invoice payments through Bill.com, ensuring proper documentation and accuracy prior to disbursement Monitor and manage the company's annual budget in partnership with the executive team Implement and conduct internal audits of the company's financial statements and processes to ensure accuracy Ensure the company is compliant with local, state, and federal reporting requirements and tax filings Create detailed financial models to forecast future revenues, expenses, and cash flows Create financial models for budgeting, long-term planning, and scenario analysis Analyze historical financial data to identify trends, variances, and improvement opportunities Support management in developing and implementing strategies to raise capital through debt and equity financing Stay up to date on financial regulations and ensure compliance with new requirements Maintain and oversee progress billing for customer contracts Manage relationships with company accounting firms Day-to-day operations including review and approval of purchase orders, quotes, etc. Collaborate with the executive team to develop financial strategies that support long-term goals Identify and support initiatives to enhance the company's financial position Recommend, develop, and track benchmarks and key performance indicators that will be used to measure the company's performance

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)



Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, or related field Minimum 10 years of accounting experience Proficient in account software (QuickBooks) Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, and financial modeling High attention to detail and is organized Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite or similar software Excellent verbal and written communication skills

The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. Must be able to sit at a desk in front of a computer for long periods of time. Position is on-site in Portland, Maine.
