About the Role
We're seeking a strategic Controller to join our growing retail technology company as a key member of our finance leadership team. As we scale toward our next phase of growth?including planned acquisitions and a complete financial systems transformation?you'll play a critical role in building the financial infrastructure and analytical capabilities that will drive our success.
This is a high-impact position where your time will be focused on strategic initiatives including financial modeling, M&A integration, and systems implementation, while ensuring operational excellence across our accounting and administrative operations.
What You'll Do
Strategic Finance & Analysis Lead financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes to support data-driven decision-making across the organization
Build and maintain sophisticated financial models for business performance analysis, scenario planning, and strategic initiatives
Develop financial analytics capabilities to provide actionable insights to executive leadership and department heads
Lead financial due diligence and integration planning for acquisitions Partner with the CFO on strategic initiatives, capital allocation decisions, and long-term financial planning
Provide financial analysis and recommendations on pricing strategy, product profitability, and customer economics
Present monthly financial reports and quarterly performance analysis to executive leadership, lead ad hoc reporting aligned to planning cycles and business needs
Systems Transformation & Process Improvement (Strategic Component)
Lead the evaluation, selection, and implementation of a new system to replace homegrown accounting tools
Drive the integration of a new billing and invoicing platform across the organization
Design and implement scalable financial processes and controls to support company growth
Identify opportunities for automation and efficiency improvements across the finance function
Oversee month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP
Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting to executive leadership
Maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards
Manage relationships with external auditors and other financial partners
What You'll Bring
Required:
10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, with at least 3-5 years in a Controller or senior finance leadership role
Strong financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting expertise
Experience leading financial systems implementations (ERP, billing systems, etc.)
Experience managing and developing finance teams
Deep understanding of SaaS metrics (ARR, churn, CAC, LTV) and revenue recognition (ASC 606).
Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls and financial reporting requirements
Advanced Excel skills and financial analysis capabilities
Strong business acumen with the ability to translate financial data into strategic insights
Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex financial information to non-finance stakeholders
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Strongly Preferred:
CPA or CMA certification
M&A experience, including due diligence and post-acquisition integration
Experience in the technology or SaaS industry
Background working with companies in the $50M-$100M revenue range
Experience transitioning financial platforms
Retail or POS/ERP software industry knowledge
