JOB SUMMARY:
The Controller is responsible for overseeing all financial and accounting functions for Quapaw Casino, including financial reporting, internal controls, compliance, audits, budgeting, and supervising finance personnel. This position ensures accurate and timely reporting of financial information while supporting organizational goals through sound financial analysis and recommendations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Job Duties:
Establish and maintain the organization's accounting principles, practices, procedures, and initiatives.
Prepare and present financial reports and findings to the Chief Financial Officer.
Conduct reconciliation analysis of casino operating plans and revenues.
Generate all required financial information on a daily, weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
Interpret financial statements and compare performance to industry trends in casino, food & beverage, and convenience store operations.
Make recommendations for improvement based on industry trends and financial comparisons.
Monitor competitive operations and prepare financial comparisons for existing and proposed operations.
Assist with assessment of economic impact for proposed business transactions.
Support operational management with financial reporting and analysis.
Make presentations to the Tribal Council, departments, and committees as needed.
Complete all required reports for Tribal, State, and Federal agencies.
Develop and implement accounting policies, coordinate systems and procedures.
Maintain a complete system of accounts, records, and transactions to safeguard organizational assets.
Maintain records of the Tribe's assets and liabilities.
Develop and maintain internal controls and provide guidance on accounting policy applications.
Coordinate annual audits with external auditors.
Prepare financial studies and analysis for existing and proposed entities.
Report operational results to all management levels in a timely manner.
Prepare operating and capital budgets for casino operations.
Prepare short- and long-term financial projections for special projects.
Participate in finance department improvement initiatives and contribute to overall organizational success.
Provide other departments with financial data and analysis as needed.
Supervise assigned personnel in the accounting, finance, and vault departments.
Manage personnel responsibilities including scheduling, hiring, training, performance evaluations, policy enforcement, and disciplinary actions.
Oversee and perform payroll functions.
Oversee and perform A/R and A/P functions.
Establish and manage an internal A/R process and maintain the A/R aging report.
Monitor receivable records, schedules, cash collections, and collections procedures.
Ensure strict confidentiality of all financial and personnel information.
Foster teamwork and a sense of urgency in task completion.
Attend required training meetings and adhere to attendance guidelines.
Comply with all company, departmental, and regulatory policies.
Perform all duties within the guidelines of Quapaw Casino's policies, procedures, and Internal Control Standards.
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:
To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each of the essential duties and responsibilities satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
A degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
Previous experience in financial reporting, establishing an accounts receivable program, drafting policies, procedures, and creating spreadsheets is required.
Must present a well-groomed and professional appearance.
Must possess excellent communication skills, an elevated level of computer literacy, and be well versed with internal control policies and procedures.
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, excellent organizational skills.
Must have the ability to deal effectively and interact well with others.
Must have the ability to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.
Must have ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, establish and meet deadlines.
Knowledge of tribal governmental accounting principles and procedures a plus.
Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, financial markets, banking, and analysis reporting of financial data.
Knowledge of business and management principles, involved strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources; must have strong people management skills with strong analytical skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
Previous experience working in the gaming industry is highly preferred.
PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND WORK DEMANDS
Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
Must be able to tolerate areas containing secondary smoke, high noise levels, bright lights, and dust.
Must be able to stand, walk, and move through all areas of the building.
Maintain physical stamina and proper mental attitude to work under pressure in a fast-paced and effectively deal with customers, management, Team Members, and members of the business community in all situations.
Other: Must be able to be approved for and maintain a valid Key license through the QTGA; must be able to read, write, speak and understand English; must be able to respond to visual and aural cues; available to work nights, weekends and holidays as needed. Bonus potential.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
