Controller

to oversee our financial operations and help guide our transition into the digital age of publishing. This is a unique opportunity to bring your accounting expertise to a mission-driven organization at the heart of its community.

What You'll Do

Lead all accounting operations, including billing, A/R, A/P, GL, payroll, and financial reporting Manage budgeting, forecasting, and monthly close processes of billing sub-systems Manage finance and accounting staff, including remote associate(s) Ensure GAAP compliance and maintain strong internal controls Partner with leadership to support strategic planning and financial analysis Drive improvements in systems and reporting to support a fast-changing media environment Reports to CFO

What You Bring

Bachelor's in Accounting, Finance, or related field 7+ years of progressive accounting experience; 3+ in a Controller or similar leadership role Experience in the

newspaper, publishing, or media

industry is highly valued Strong understanding of circulation, digital ad revenue, and cost accounting Proficiency in accounting software (Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains, Manager Reporter) Intermediate to Advance knowledge and skills in Microsoft Excel
