Job Title: Controller

Position Summary

The Controller is responsible for overseeing the organization's accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance with applicable financial regulations and standards. This role ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial records and provides financial leadership to support strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee all accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and financial close processes. Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP (or applicable standards). Establish, maintain, and monitor internal accounting controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance. Coordinate and manage external audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting requirements. Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and process improvements. Analyze financial data and provide insights, forecasts, and reports to executive leadership. Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local financial regulations. Supervise and mentor accounting staff; support professional development and performance management. Collaborate with other departments to support budgeting, financial planning, and operational initiatives.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required). CPA or equivalent professional certification (preferred). Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory or management experience. Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and audit processes. Proficiency with accounting systems and financial software. Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Physical Requirements

This position is primarily office-based. The Controller must be able to sit for extended periods, work at a computer, and communicate effectively in person and electronically. Occasional standing, walking, and lifting of light materials (generally up to 10 pounds) may be required.

Work Environment

Work is performed in a professional office environment with standard office equipment. Occasional extended hours may be required during reporting periods, audits, or deadlines.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
