Controller

to lead our accounting operations, financial reporting, compliance program, and IT functions. This is a pivotal role that supports our mission and drives our strategic objectives forward.

Position Summary




As Controller, you'll ensure the accuracy of financial data, maintain robust internal controls, and oversee compliance with regulations. You'll also manage IT systems to support organizational productivity and security. This role offers the opportunity to provide financial insight and operational leadership at a mission-driven association.

Key Responsibilities



Financial Management & Reporting



Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes. Prepare financial statements, budget reports, and dashboards. Ensure compliance with Cash Modified non-profit accounting standards. Coordinate audits and IRS Form 990 filings.

Accounting Operations



Supervise AP, AR, payroll, general ledger, and cash management. Monitor cash flow and bank reconciliations. Drive process improvements and maintain internal controls.

Compliance & Risk Management



Develop and oversee financial and operational compliance programs. Ensure adherence to laws and internal policies. Collaborate with leadership on risk management and governance.

IT Oversight & Systems Management



Manage IT operations, vendors, upgrades, and cybersecurity. Align technology with organizational needs. Ensure data privacy and system integrity.

Budgeting & Forecasting



Lead annual budgeting with CFO/CEO and department heads. Monitor budgets and provide variance analysis. Develop financial forecasts for strategic planning.

Leadership & Collaboration



Supervise and mentor accounting staff. Advise leadership on financial, compliance, and IT matters. Support cross-functional initiatives.

Qualifications



Required:






Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 4+ years of progressive accounting experience with leadership responsibilities. Knowledge of non-profit accounting and regulatory reporting. Experience with compliance programs, audits, and board interactions. Familiarity with IT operations and vendor management. Proficiency in accounting/ERP software (e.g., Sage Intacct, QuickBooks, NetSuite) and Excel. Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.



Preferred:






CPA designation.

Physical Requirements



Light sedentary office work. Prolonged periods of computer use. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
