to lead our finance and accounting operations. Reporting to the CFO, this role oversees payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable while ensuring compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and federal grant regulations.

Position Summary
The Controller plays a key leadership role in overseeing Alluvion Health's financial operations. Reporting directly to the CFO, this position ensures compliance with accounting standards, manages daily financial functions, and drives process improvements across payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.

Key Responsibilities
Accounting Operations
Oversee all accounting functions, including general ledger, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and fixed assets.
Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP.
Manage month-end and year-end close processes and reconcile general ledger accounts.
Financial Reporting & Compliance
Prepare financial reports for leadership, auditors, and regulatory agencies.
Analyze and interpret financial performance by program and service line.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including Uniform Guidance for federal grants.
Assist CFO with Medicare Cost Reports, UDS submissions, and related filings.
Internal Controls & Policy Development
Develop, implement, and monitor internal financial controls, policies, and procedures.
Ensure policies align with current accounting standards and organizational needs.
Budgeting & Planning
Lead the annual budgeting process and prepare financial forecasts.
Partner with department leaders to monitor performance and provide variance analysis.
Grant Management
Oversee grant accounting and ensure compliance with funding requirements.
Track restricted funds and prepare required grant financial reports.
Audit & Reporting
Coordinate annual audits and prepare required documentation.
Maintain audit-ready records to ensure clean audit outcomes.
Leadership & Collaboration
Supervise, train, and mentor accounting staff.
Collaborate with leadership to provide data-driven insights that inform strategic decisions.
Other Duties
Perform other related duties as assigned by the CFO or senior leadership.

Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
Minimum of five (5) years of progressive fiscal management experience; healthcare experience preferred.
Nonprofit or grant-funded experience strongly preferred (Uniform Guidance experience a plus).
Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration preferred.
CPA designation preferred.
Knowledge & Skills
Deep understanding of GAAP, nonprofit accounting, and federal grant regulations.
Experience with budget development, forecasting, and variance analysis.
Proven leadership experience in accounting or finance teams.
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Licenses/Certifications
Valid Montana Driver's License required.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Primarily office-based in a climate-controlled environment.
Occasional lifting (up to 40 lbs) of files, equipment, or supplies.
Requires sitting for extended periods, frequent computer use, and occasional travel to clinic sites.

Monday - Friday | Full-time | Exempt | Typically a 40-hour workweek.
