The Controller is a key member of the leadership team, responsible for all aspects of financial and accounting management. This role drives accuracy in financial operations, ensures GAAP compliance, and provides strategic insights to support the laboratory's executive decisions and long-term growth.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Lead and manage all activities within the accounting and finance department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and month-end/year-end close.?
Oversee and ensure the accurate, timely filing of all federal, state, local, and payroll taxes, including gross receipts and compliance filings.?
Review and approve reconciliations, postings, and the integrity of all accounting transactions; ensure internal controls over financial reporting and asset protection.?
Direct the preparation, analysis, and presentation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, management reports, and custom analytics for executive management.?
Collaborate with executive leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning; provide meaningful decision-support analytics for operational and capital initiatives.
Develop and implement departmental policies to ensure all financial transactions are GAAP-compliant and in accordance with healthcare industry standards.??
Maintain communication with and support external auditors to facilitate efficient audits and tax preparation, ensuring all financial operations pass regulatory and audit scrutiny.
Continuously improve and optimize financial systems, reporting tools, and processes for cost efficiency, transparency, and scalability.?
Generate financial dashboards to track key metrics such as cash flow, expenses, and service line profitability.
Provide oversight, coaching, and development for accounting staff, ensuring departmental objectives are met and team cross-training is completed.
Ensure the integrity of the general ledger, including account reconciliations, posting corrections, and maintenance of all supporting schedules (prepaids, fixed assets, accruals, debt).
Oversee the management and processes of accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely vendor payments, customer invoicing, collections, and reconciliation of credit card activity.
Support laboratory leadership in understanding financial performance metrics, project ROI, and department-level costs.
Collaborate with laboratory directors/managers, HR, and compliance teams to ensure effective integration of financial controls and reporting across functions.?

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or master's preferred.
Minimum 5 years progressive experience in accounting or finance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management capacity (healthcare or laboratory experience preferred).
Strong understanding of GAAP, tax compliance, and financial analysis in a regulated industry.
Leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and experience with modern financial software (QuickBooks, laboratory ERP, Excel/Power BI).
Pay: $83,154.59 - $115,000.00 per year
