Position Overview

The Controller will be responsible for overseeing the company's accounting operations and ensuring accurate, timely, and transparent financial reporting. This position plays a critical role in maintaining financial discipline and supporting leadership with data-driven insights.

You'll work closely with the President and our fractional CFO while collaborating with the in-house bookkeeper. This is an onsite role based in our Lindon headquarters, with flexibility available over time based on performance and trust.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage the full month-end and year-end close process Prepare and maintain Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules, job cost reports, and related reconciliations Oversee day-to-day accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger Maintain accurate cash-flow reporting, bank reconciliations, and draw schedules Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting for management, lenders, and bonding companies Collaborate with the fractional CFO and ownership on strategic financial decisions Maintain compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies ]Support insurance, bonding, and licensing renewals and reporting Implement process improvements, strengthen internal controls, and optimize accounting systems Supervise and mentor accounting staff (including potential oversight of the bookkeeper over time)

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred but not required) 5-10 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a construction or contracting environment (required) Strong knowledge of construction accounting principles, job cost reporting, and WIP schedules Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel; experience with job-costing systems or ERP integrations a plus Proven ability to manage deadlines, prioritize multiple projects, and communicate clearly with both field and office teams Hands-on, detail-oriented, and collaborative mindset -- willing to dive into details while thinking strategically Integrity, reliability, and a commitment to continuous improvement
