About the Opportunity

Summit Skilled Solutions is recruiting on behalf of a growing aerospace and defense manufacturer in Northeast Ohio for a talented Controller to oversee all financial operations and reporting functions.

This is a high-impact leadership role for a finance professional with strong manufacturing experience and the drive to take full ownership of accounting processes, financial analysis, and strategic financial planning for a rapidly expanding organization.

Key Responsibilities

Direct the company's day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and cash management. Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities and produce timely, accurate, and compliant financial statements. Deliver actionable insights through detailed analysis of financial performance, cash flow trends, and operating metrics. Lead cost accounting and inventory management initiatives; partner with Production and Engineering to improve ERP accuracy, track material costs, and reduce waste. Maintain cash flow projections, oversee banking relationships, and support capital management efforts. Guide the annual budgeting and forecasting cycles, providing data-driven recommendations for operational efficiency and strategic growth. Coordinate annual audits and ensure adherence to GAAP, ITAR, and other applicable financial and regulatory standards. Oversee tax filings and planning efforts in coordination with external advisors. Identify opportunities to streamline accounting workflows and strengthen reporting systems across the organization. Monitor key performance indicators and provide regular updates to senior leadership. Support executive decision-making through financial modeling, cost analysis, and long-term planning initiatives.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. 8-12 years of progressive accounting or finance experience, including at least five years in a manufacturing leadership capacity. Strong technical knowledge of GAAP, cost accounting principles, and inventory control practices. Proven experience with modern ERP systems (Acumatica, NetSuite, SAP, Infor, or equivalent). Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial modeling. A collaborative, hands-on leader who thrives in fast-paced environments and values continuous process improvement.

Pay: $90,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
