Position Overview:




The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the company's day-to-day accounting operations and ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting. This role balances hands-on execution with strategic oversight, managing core accounting processes, supporting financial planning, and providing leadership visibility into the organization's financial health. The Accounting Manager will also supervise a bookkeeping contractor and collaborate closely with the Head of Finance to strengthen internal controls, streamline workflows, and support long-term financial decision-making.







Key Responsibilities

Accounting Operations



Oversee and manage all accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll entries. Supervise and review the work of the bookkeeping contractor to ensure accuracy and timeliness. Own day-to-day bookkeeping and financial data entry in QuickBooks. Perform monthly reconciliations and maintain up-to-date, accurate financial records. Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.

Financial Reporting & Analysis



Prepare GAAP-compliant financial statements, monthly reporting packages, and management dashboards. Develop and maintain financial tracking tools in Excel to monitor KPIs and cash flow. Support the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and scenario modeling to guide strategic planning. Analyze financial performance, highlight trends, and provide actionable recommendations to leadership.

Leadership Collaboration



Partner with executive leadership to support long-term financial planning and business growth. Assist in the preparation of reports for stakeholders, auditors, and advisors. Contribute to process improvements that enhance efficiency across accounting and reporting functions. Help document and refine standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Communication & Reporting Cadence



Weekly check-ins with leadership to review progress and priorities. Monthly reporting on KPIs, trends, and financial insights. Documentation and deliverables stored in shared company systems (Google Drive, Asana, HubSpot). Strategy sessions are scheduled periodically.

Success in this Role




The Accounting Manager will ensure financial operations run smoothly, deliver timely and accurate reporting, and provide leadership with actionable financial insights. Success will be measured by:

Accuracy and timeliness of financial reports and reconciliations. Strengthened internal controls and streamlined workflows. Effective oversight of the bookkeeping contractor. Improved visibility into organizational KPIs and financial health.

Qualifications:



Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred but not required. 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or manager-level role. Experience transitioning from cash to accrual accounting strongly preferred Strong proficiency in QuickBooks and Excel; experience with HubSpot, Asana, or similar systems is a plus. Solid understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards. Ability to run full "close to report" cycle (journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, consolidations Demonstrated ability to analyze financial data and present insights clearly to leadership. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines. Effective communicator with experience collaborating across teams in a remote or hybrid environment
