Continuous Improvement Technician

Job Description

This position is responsible to assist the Engineering department with continuous improvement projects, as well as develop new documents that help improve plant operations. This position must collaborate with operational staff to define process improvements. The schedule of this position is flexible as the operations to improve include all shifts.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead and drive continuous improvement efforts on the production floor

Primary efforts include but are not limited to procedures and checklists related to centerlines, changeovers, and startup/shutdown of operations

Implement departmental programs to improve performance in the manufacturing areas using reliability metrics and KPIs

Ensure plant employees and leaders focus on operational effectiveness and efficiency utilizing reliability technology

Implement processes to monitor, report, and trigger improvement initiatives to ensure that the CI program is used as the primary way to shape and sustain the Operations Excellence Culture

Assist in developing and maintaining data and information systems to ensure the efficient and effective recording of improvement progress

Change facilitator to develop and collaborate with continuous improvement and lean champions in the transformation to a continuous improvement culture

Monitor existing and new transactional processes for improvement opportunities through lean problem-solving methodology and process streamlining

Organize the process for improvement to be used within the assigned facility by involving all pertinent personnel to move toward specific company goals

Facilitate the implementation of CI tools, e.g., 5S, YY, OPL's and visual controls and philosophies to affect and maintain a corporate cultural change based on loss elimination

Be part of an analytical culture to improve decision-making and drive efficiency, quality, and profitability

May need to work any shift as required to meet business needs

Other duties as assigned

Support and assist with facility safety initiatives and work with EHS Manager on workers compensation claims.

Partner with Quality Assurance, executing and supporting all Quality programs that ensure the production of Safe, Quality Foods.
