Job Summary

**Hybrid Work Environment - Must reside in Hawaii **

Research, write, and coordinate articles and communications projects, which may include: corporate communications, employee communications, employer communications, provider communications, directories, brochures, website updates, social media, print and radio advertisements, articles for Island Scene magazine and islandscene.com, to a specific, targeted audience.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor\'s degree and two years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills and a service-oriented attitude.
  • Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Content Creation
  • Research, write, and edit original articles for publication in Island Scene magazine and islandscene.com.
  • Prepare corporate communications and modify content for the appropriate audience.
  • Apply creativity and imagination to develop and prepare materials as well as to modify previously written content to drive strategic business direction needs and to reach and influence specific audiences and customers.
  • Work on various communications projects, including drafting and revising articles, preparing reference materials, handbooks, and organizing other materials.
  • Write, review, proof, and edit content for other written and/or online communications received and/or created by the Communications department for internal and external audiences, including the public, community, members, employers, and providers.
  • Develop, edit, and review materials to achieve and attain internal partner alignment and approvals.
  • Identify, analyze, and respond to new opportunities based on new tools, trends, and best practices.
  • Research writing assignments, including HMSA programs and materials, internet and library research, and by conducting interviews in person, in writing, and on the phone.
  • Communications Support and Coordination
  • Address internal partner requests for information and respond to their inquiries over the phone, in person, and in writing.
  • Research and write proposals as needed.
  • Provide back up for writers in Communications as needed.
  • Represent Communications department at project meetings, report back to management staff, and follow up as needed.
  • Assist management team, Island Scene/islandscene.com editorial staff, and other Communications staff on projects as needed.
  • Participate on project teams to work with customers, communications program managers, Island Scene/islandscene.com editorial staff, editors, writers, graphic designers, video team, and others to coordinate, produce, and deliver requested materials.
  • Responsible for analyzing, editing, and clearly presenting information to meet the needs of the target audience.
  • Performs all other miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned or directed.
