Summary of Responsibilities:
Our Content Writer will report to the Director of Marketing and Communications & work in conjunction with our Digital Marketing Manager. This position will be responsible for development, implementation, and conceptualization of integrated marketing communications to support existing campaigns across assigned lines of business or organizational areas. A significant portion (75%) of responsibilities will encompass creating and concepting content for the organization\xe2\x80\x99s marketing communications platforms.

Duties/Essential Functions:

  • Uphold Mission, Vision and Values of Forgotten Harvest
  • Deliver compelling written content (articles, profiles, etc.) to support the defined stewardship process; help increase brand awareness and education, and build personal connections to the Forgotten Harvest brand. This content will be in the form of print, email and mobile outreach programs with the goal of engaging and growing our base of donors and supporters.
  • Participate in development of an integrated editorial calendar.
  • Manage the content generation and creation of the company\xe2\x80\x99s annual report publication and quarterly newsletters.
  • Create traditional promotional materials and span of communication tactics as required by supported lines/areas of business within the organization to support campaigns as well as individual project initiatives. Assist in the implementation of the digital/social marketing strategy and create content across all platforms used by Forgotten Harvest (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Web, Linked in).
  • Assist in compliance with all grant reporting as required by foundation/corporate donors.
  • Proactively create and conceptualize content to be used in all FH marketing efforts.
  • Collaborate with the Development team members as needed and provide other support for Forgotten Harvest fundraising events and initiatives.
  • Attend all required meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:
  • Expert written communication skills. Ability to draft content, copy and messaging in a variety of styles, voices and tones.
  • Must be adaptable to different target audiences, categories and branding initiatives: i.e. social media, newsletters, press releases etc.
  • Evidence of excellent computer skills and design software: i.e. Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Ability to conceptualize collateral for print and web.
  • The ability to effectively problem solve and multi-task \xe2\x80\x93 to change strategy mid-stream, acting without always having the total picture while coping with things that are up in the air; comfortable with measured risk and uncertainty.
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism or related field preferred. Strong evidence of at least 1-2 years of experience.
  • Must have valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license, acceptable driving record as determined by FH insurance company, and valid personal auto insurance.



Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
  • General office working conditions
  • Working in office approximately 50% of working time
  • Working and engaging with the FH community and services other 50% of the time
  • Travel to meetings, appointments, other FH locations, etc. as needed
  • Occasional evening and weekend hours
  • No unusual physical exertion required
